Case Studies Venetian Marina

Venetian Marina

New owners of the marina invested in substantial refurbishment to upgrade this ageing infrastructure to a high quality, low maintenance marina. The existing perimeter sheet piling was rusted and failing so we introduced a new galvanised perimeter sheet pile designed in cantilever to support the perimeter embankment. This work was undertaken from the land using long reach excavators pipped up for vibro piling hammers. In some areas the piling was installed from a floating pontoon with hydraulic spud-legs powered by an excavator on the pontoon.

Around the outside of the piling was a purpose made bespoke service trough to distribute power and water to the jetties.

The existing timber jetties and pontoons were systematically replaced in a sequence that maintained moorings for the incumbent moorer’s. It was not possible to drain the water from the marina so all works had to be undertaken from the floating spud leg pontoon. Working closely with our specialist fabricator, we developed a bespoke galvanised metal jetty system including all joints and connections which was supported on sheet piles bolted to the framework. Setting out was undertaken by EDM equipment and lazer control for accuracy of line and level.

The finished marina is a stunning modern high quality facility that will last for many years with only basic maintenance.
